The CRD Challenge

CRD = Circadian Rhythm Disruption

Addressing my Light Diet has been the greatest “needle mover” regarding my health and wellbeing. I’ve dealt with chronic pain since my teens. Was able to get Rheumatoid Arthritis pain under control in my 20’s and into my 30’s, but even after weaning off a disease-modifying rheumatoid drug in order to have safe pregnancies, I spent the better part of a decade taking over-the-counter NSAIDs to get through each day.

Early in my 4th decade I slowly but doggedly began to make bigger changes in my day-to-day. Something had to give! And the current “health care” options for me weren’t cutting it.

Food diet changes were a great first step.

Ridding my household and my daily routines of nasty toxic chemicals (cleaning and personal hygiene/beauty supplies) was the logical next step.

I tried to exercise consistently, loved the feeling. Felt great. And then the recovery post-workouts simply sucked. Much pain and discomfort. I felt like I’d take one step forward and 3 steps back.

Muscle and mobility were not what they needed to be. What was I missing?

Enter LIGHT.

I stumbled upon the work of Jack Kruse, MD and the rabbit hole landed me square in the middle of what is now the Institute of Applied Quantum Biology.

“Every physiological function is light-dependent”

Dr. J. Liberman

Turns out it doesn’t matter how clean we eat or how pristine and toxin-free our home is, if our light diet is messed up, it’s all for naught.

Light runs our biology. And now more than ever before, not all light is created equal.

Just like whole food is most definitely NOT the same as the fast food imitation, whole, full spectrum light like what we get from the sun every time we go outside is most definitely NOT the same as the artificial junk light we are surrounded by indoors.

Not only that, but the junk light we spend most of our time under and in front of (screens like the one I’m typing on, for instance) is causing serious timing issues in our cells, resulting in what I call 21st century jet lag. This 21st century jet lag does not require us to get on a plane and travel 8 time zones. We can experience it simply by sitting in front of our screens for the better part of each 24 hr. period.

Drastically changing my daily light diet is what finally “did it” for me. I have been officially off NSAIDs for over 3 years. And it’s been magnificent! I am slowly regaining muscle and mobility. I have more energy now than I did in my 20s. I am so thankful I could explode. This is why I quit my job as Assistant Professor at the local medical school and went back to school to learn all the stuff I didn’t learn in grad school. Along the way, and because I couldn’t wait any longer to share what I was learning and discovering, I founded my coaching business, Horaios Wellness. Our mission is to provide affordable health and wellness information to anyone ready to take charge of their own health.

I was honored to be invited to become an ambassador for the CRD Challenge. And so here I am, spreading the good news in an even more “official” capacity!

Read on to learn more about how you, too, can rediscover how you were truly designed to run. Because, when all is said and done,

From the CRD Challenge website:

“Circadian processes are present at all times in every single cell, tissue, organ and system of our bodies.

These rhythms impact our hunger, metabolism, body temperature, hormone and neurotransmitter production, as well as the functioning of our heart, muscular system, stress response and immunity. Our circadian rhythm also controls ageing through cellular recycling, repair and replacement.

Decades of evidence shows that Circadian Rhythm Disruption—which we abbreviate as CRD—is now endemic. CRD is implicated in all chronic and many acute diseases across the lifespan. From infancy into childhood, through adolescence, adulthood and older age – the health of your circadian rhythm matters!”

“The CRD Challenge is a free, 21-day bite-sized educational experience designed to teach you how to realign to nature’s rhythms and empower you to take back control over the destiny of your health and happiness.

It’s comprised of step-by-step educational materials, co-written by a team of circadian health experts, that are delivered via our free Skool community.

We believe that by providing you with first-hand experience of the power of simple circadian health practices, you can transform not only your life, but also the lives of your families and communities.”
